THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA COURSEWARE FOR THE SPORTS SCIENCES SUBJECT FORM FOUR

Abstract

Sports Sciences subject is one of the elective subject in the Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia (SPM). The mentality student that Sports Sciences Subject is difficult to score and this subject is lack of references in Bahasa Malaysia language in the market. This courseware focus on Field 3 title Pengenalan Sains Pergerakan that have eight topics but due to the time constraint the developer decides to choose four topics which are Satah Dan Pergerakan Asas, Jenis-Jenis Gerakan, Asas Kinematik Gerakan, Hukum Newton, and one quiz button which are Uji Minda. Therefore, this courseware content notes, mind map, animation, video, interactive sound, graphic and text to attract the user more interesting and exciting to use it. The methodology of the development this courseware the developer using ADDIE model where consist five phases which are analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. This ADDIE model is useful and suitable for the development of Multimedia Courseware for The Sports Science Subject Form Four. For designing the courseware to produce a suitable and good product interface, this courseware had use the Usability Heuristic by Jacob Nielsen which are visibility of system status, match between system and the real world, user control and freedom, consistency and standards, recognition rather than recall, flexibility and efficiency of use and aesthetic and minimalist design. The evaluation has been conducted by an expert and five potential user based on the general view, courseware interface, navigation, content and activities, usability and element of multimedia. As the result, the courseware is effectiveness and the time Based Efficiency is 1.07 goals/min and for the overall relative efficiency is 79%. Conclusively, this courseware is expected to make the learning process more interactive, interesting and can change the perception that the Sports Sciences subject is difficult to understand and score.
