MIGRAINE DIAGNOSIS USING FUZZY EXPERT SYSTEM
Abstract
Medical technology is a broad field where innovation plays
a crucial role in sustaining health. The dependence on technology in the
healthcare industry can help the healthcare practitioners to improve their
practice. Enhancements in medical technology have allowed physicians to do
better diagnosis for their patients. Artificial Intelligence is said to be the
doctors’ assistance as it can help them to do many tasks such as diagnosing the
diseases. Fuzzy Expert System (FES) is used as it is a suitable algorithm to
deal with uncertain cases such as diagnosing disease. For this project, FES is
used to build migraine diagnosis system as to help the patient runs diagnosis
test and acknowledge his or her migraine level before seeking for doctor. There
are several steps in building the fuzzy system include fuzzification, fuzzy
inference system and defuzzification. Mamdani fuzzy inference system is used as
it suitable for human's input which are, for this system, the symptoms of
migraine - intensity of headache, duration of headache, sensitivity to light
and sound, and vomiting and nausea. The system is being tested by comparing the
system's results with actual rules from the expert. Functionality test is also
being done by considering users' evaluation when they are using the system.
